Löwenstein family

1520 - present

What happens when a family makes wine in the same town for 500 years? Business as usual? To be fair, change is and always has been the sole constant. Weingut Heymann-Löwenstein was founded in 1980 – embodied by Reinhard and representing the 13th generation of winegrowing for the Löwenstein family in Winningen. He and Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein have since passed the estate on to the 14th generation:

Sarah Löwenstein shares with her parents a holistic view of wine and terroir. “I want to continue contemplating this concept with an eye towards the people, their community and relationships.”

And so it continues to spin, the wheel of seasons, vintages and generations. And the wines are the mirror for all of that: they reveal the character of the sites, of the time and the people behind them — and in this way remain unmistakably Heymann-Löwenstein.
